Great site here. I model about anything automotive or aviation, and this site is by far the best I have seen for Open Wheel. Primary interest here would be older Indy. My Grandfather was close friends of Lou Moore , Seth Klein, Duke Nalon, and a few others from Indy, as well as Babe Stapp and Fred Lockwood who promoted the AAA races at the old Arlington Downs track in Texas in the 40's. (Where they filmed scenes from To Please a Lady). I have a huge interest in that era of Indy racing. While I never met my Grandfather, who passed before I was born, His stories live on through my father, and we have had 5 generations involved in varying degrees with racing, including my now 8 year old Grandson. Currently crew asphalt oval cars when not at workin in my Aviation career, and grandson goes racing with me. He is handy with a pop-riveter, sawzall, lug wrench, liquid wax, and can get back to clean the back window we can't reach. And he can blob welds with my mig welder. (You can't start them early enough !) Am also involved with vintage open wheel restoration and shows here in Texas. We have about 9 different open wheel restorations going on right now in the Lone Star State, and several more projects Identified.
Look forward to getting ideas from some of you experts here, and am happy to contribute to the site anyway I can.

Howdy and welcome to a great group of modelers. I'm into cars of the 60s-70s, both F1 and Indy with a splash of F5000 and F2/3.

Hi all, just registered to this board for this specific post. My mother told me today that my Great-Grandfather, Fred Lockwood, helped bring indy racing to texas. I started googling his name with indy racing and stumbled across this. Thought this little connection might be something to explore
