Hi Guys, I am looking for a picture, drawing or anything showing me the Statue Of Liberty logo that was on the front side of both side pods on the 1984 Skoal Bandit. This logo sits directly in front of the Skoal lettering on the left side and just past the Bandit lettering on the right. You can barely see it on the IMS qualifying photo but just barely. I have searched & searched and can't come up with a good photo. The Liberty logo was was there because it was at the time that they were restoring the statue. I was told that more teams were involved than just Forsythe Racing but I have not seen the logo on any other car. Any help would be awesome.

It is a newspaper or something. I will send you a scan in a couple of hours. It's on the Studio27 Skoal sheet for the Porsche 956. Nic

Here you go. I thought it was a newspaper or something like that, but it is a Foundation Sponsor decals for the Statue of Liberty. I'm not sure if the Skoal Indy cars were owned by John Fitzpatrick, but he is the one that raced the Porsches. It comes on this sheet. Nic

THAT'S IT! FANTASTIC Nic! Thanks so much!
Haven't forgotten about the MRRN issues. Getting them back in my possesion has been the issue but I am still working on it.

Could Skoal be the common thread for the Founding Sponsor program? Wasn't Jerry Forsythe was Fabi's team owner of the Skoal IndyCars in the early 80s?

It's not on Harry's Monte Carlo, but it was on Benny Parson's Copenhagen. That sheet is $10, which would be cheaper for you than the 956. Nic

I saw it on the 85 F1 Skoal car driven by Jonathan Palmer but the picture was very blurry. It also might only been on the car at US races because I didn't see it on other pictures.
1984 Forsythe Racing Press kit states that "Skoal Bandits will share it's prominent billboard space with New Yorks most famous lady."
It goes on to give a history and describe the restoration project funding and sponsorship. There is a press kit for sale on ebay that describes it in detail.

I have looked and looked and can't quite understand why Harry Gant never had it on his cars, but it's on the Copenhagen. I know there is somewhere else I have seen it as well. As for the MRRN issues, no rush. I just now got my DVD done with what I have. It was a lot bigger undertaking than what I thought. Thought about doing it with Scale Auto, but 60+ pages and over 125 issues, scares me, lol. Nic

Thanks Nic. The problem with the Harry Gant sheet is that the logo (same as the 956 sheet) is black. On the Skoal Bandit the side pods are green and the logo is white so buying either sheet wouldn't help me. I have since made my own however thanks to you!
I am in the process of turning a 1/18th Carousel 1 Rick Mears winner into Teo Fabi's Skoal Bandit. The body is all painted and this was the only decal I was missing. All i have to do is remember how it goes back together! ;D The C1 March was built in such a way that it is very difficult to get apart and took me nearly 7 hours. The next one will be easier now that I know a few tricks but they will still take some time.
Thanks again! Stu

Hey Nic, No, these were made by a vinyl shop in Indianapolis. Probably the thinest vinyl I have ever seen (almost as thin as waterslide) and they go on really nice. Still prefer water slide though.

I believe it is the Carousel 1 Rick Mears March 84C, Russ Oh I found it in Reply #9, it is a C1 conversion. Jordan

Not really. For one, I only paid around $65 for the car and this one will be a one of a kind. I would like to think that it will be worth far more than your normal Rick Mears just for the fact that you can't buy this car anywhere else.

Here is the Bandit as of today. Replaced the red seat belts with a bronze colored ribbon material and covered the GAWD awful yellow out of scale carbon fiber cockpit with gray carbon fiber decal from Scale Motorsports. [img src="http://i640.photobucket.com/albums/uu127/sbenford/Bandit05.jpg" img]

I tried to get Frank to change the CF decal but it was to no avail. CF was black/yellow however on the real car.
