Lets get to know each other a little more Question: What driver in the history of Open Wheel racing are you most like Personality wise? Be truthfully If its your favorite driver and your nothing alike then you cant pick them. Well for for me I have many favorites but the one driver that I'm most like is....... Rick Mears and why Because if you watch ESPN's Sports Century, 75% of his personality matches mine. IMO Have fun ;D

Well, my alltime favorite driver was, is, and will always be Dan Gurney. I hope we are something alike. I'll have to ask Old Calhoun, he knows Dan quite well, and me a little bit. Craig

I'm a Jack Brabham type. Why...first he's ancient like me! Jack liked to work on his cars and experiment with them (sometimes too much as they would break from tinkering). He also possessed confidence in what he did as a driver/ constructor. I build my models in a similar way (I break them from handling them too much.).

Good topic. So let's see; my favorite driver is Mario Andretti but my personality is a very aggressive, Type A person. That suited my years of playing hockey and now with martial arts. I had a short fuse kind of temper and didn't think twice about giving someone a beatdown. But that was in my earlier years. Since fatherhood changes a guy, I've been much more tolerant. I've always had the sense of humor that I display here, right Chaparral?
Someone else might have to answer this for me. Russ?? I'm thinking it could've been AJ Foyt, but I'm not sure. I can eliminate the following drivers: Rick Mears Bobby Rahal Gordon Johncock Tom Sneva Al Unser Sr Johnny Rutherford
From what I was told, Swede Savage was a pretty aggressive guy. So was Al Unser Jr. Who knows? I must be a hybrid.

I'm cool and calm, don't take things too seriously and I have a dry and sometimes dark sense of humor, so I'll go with Graham Hill.

WOW!!!
Maybe I need someone else to answer this for me....My All-Time Favorite driver is A.J. Foyt, but I'm glad to say I have none of the tempestuous traits of Foyt, but the will to win. Maybe that's why I'm more like Parnelli Jones. I don't take much crap from anyone and I get the job done. I also like, heck, LOVE front engine cars. I wish we'd go back to racing roadsters.
Well Tom, you know me, who I'm I most like? Best to you!

Except you don't whine like Mario used to. Al Unser Sr. once said the hear Vintage Italian Whine was to hear Mario claim he didn't have enough boost on his car at Indy. But one thing is...Mario could drive the whees off of anything he drove, couldn't he? Best to you! Russ

My personality is probably a lot like Foyt. That's probably why I like him as a driver. I really had to learn to control my temper over my early years. stonecold refers to his hockey, mine was too many years of football! LOL!! But that gave me an outlet to vent. My Grandfather raised me, and he told me "If I ever find out you started a fight I'll whip your A$$, and if you ever lose a fight I'll whip your A$$". I didn't get too many whippings. Much of my personality has a basis in being the best, and not accepting 2nd place............. it can be a problem, it seems.

From what I was told, Swede Savage was a pretty aggressive guy. My Oldest brother went to High School with David "Swede" Savage and one day at football practice, Savage left my brother, who loved football and retired from the USAF as a General looking out his ear hole on his helmet because of the hit he put on him. Yes. Savage was a "pretty aggressive guy" to say the least. Best to you! Russ

Bobby Rahal. Laid back, easy to get along with, thoughtful. Until you push the wrong button.

I wish that I was like Mears, Gurney,Rahal, or Hill: laid back/ a strategic thinker. I wish sometimes that I didn't have Foyt's outspoken ways and Emmo's competitive mania. So I guess I'll go with Sam Hanks: determined, a dreamer, a risk taker, a charger... and yeah, I'd cry if I won Indy the way he did... Tim

David Hobbs.....his sense of humor, panache for making up words. While his stats may not rank among the sports elite you just know this guy had one hell of a good time in his years in the seat.....there are the greats and then are those who just had a great time making a living doing what they love....and he lives in Wisconsin...hey so do I.
