While searching through old magazines for reference photos of something entirely unrelated I found this photo. Hosted on FotkiThe caption claims this will be a 1969 Indy 500 entry built by the Lear Jet people and steam powered. Did this car ever get built? Did it ever run a lap? It looks kind of interesting; sort of a bloated Lotus 56. Trevor

Sorry for pulling up the old thread but found a post by Ed Justice Jr that adds a lot of detail to this car. You should be able to read it without an Instagram account. Click hereJordan

Randomly stumbled upon a podcast today about Lear and his steam IndyCar. I am about 31 minutes into the 80 minute podcast and enjoying it so far. Click here to go to Podcast PageHe mentions Lear built an IMS replica being built outside Reno as a personal test track. The podcast mentions that it can still be seen today so I had to find it. Thankfully, I found a link instead of trying to find it blindly on Google Maps! Not easy to make out but it can be deciphered. Click here to go to Google MapEnjoy! Jordan
