Goodyear was also a problem on C-1 and it took a middleman's intervention to help. He must remain nameless but he is know for his "Unfair advantage" in capturing many Indy wins.

Maybe people that collect diecast do it because they love Indycars but don't have any modeling skills? As the Professor said, maybe they don't know that the paint is off or even care.
Being model builders, we sometimes spend more time researching a car than we do actually building it! To me, research is half the fun. We all research because we have to desire to make the car as correct as possible. But that is only because we know better and have a passion for buildiing. Some people and collectors just don't care. To each his own.
I like building plastic & resin like most guys here do. That is all I used to do! Since converting my first diecast about three years ago. I am hooked!

I believe there are no wrong answers here. In the case of C1 or any model, there are always issues. Like AMT, ERTL and others, they are clearly not perfect. Case in point, consider the tremendous amount of work going into the construction of a proper "Old Calhoun" as outlined on this forum. No problem with that and that is the essence of modeling. Okay by me....I'll stop posting anything on it.

Surely we all getting off track here, the reason I posted the distributors message is to show that Carousel 1 has sent a “goodbye” message out and it looks as though that’s the end of things, which I think is a real shame. Even you think that the models were up to scratch or not, Carousel were the only die cast company putting out 1:18 replica’s of the cars we all love, kudos to Frank for doing this. I can hold my head up high and say I supported the company, as I have every Indy model the company put out. But I don’t think that individual people not buying their complete collection is the reason the company looks like going under. I still think over the last couple of years the company over stretched it's self and made some bad decisions. My old Dad always says stick with what your best at, Carousel were best at Vintage Indy Cars and as I have stated before when you start getting into other peoples markets (Planes, Corvettes and F1 cars) especially the larger toy companies your asking for trouble. I also think some (as stated before) bad model selections were made which meant many models were uninteresting to collectors. This being said I hope that maybe one of these big companies (ERTL, Minchamps?) buy up Carousel and continue the great work. Or maybe I could have a big lottery win and………….. (I wish). Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all
