Has anyone ever thought about building one of the Surgaripe Cars from the 70's Or am I the only one? I know there is no decals.... but just asking if it has crossed anyones mind. I know carousel has a 1973, but I like to build than already built. Any of the those Surgaripe cars and Pancho Carter's 1978 Budweiser Lightning have always been sentimental favorites of Mine.

Hey guy,
Fred Cady did a decal sheet of Billy Vukovich's 1973 Eagle...It was really nice too if I recall correctly. Give hime a yell, I'll bet he has a few of the bad boys left.
Best to you

Russ, You are correct. Fred Cady did do a decal set for these cars. It is sheet number 588. The sheet has the decals to do the 74 and 74 versions of the car. With a little work on the number one would probably be able to do the 75 and 76 versions as well. Lat time I spoke with Fred he said he did have most of the indy decals. He has told me just to drop him a line and let him know what I needed and the price would be the same as his last catalog had. Attach is a picture I just took of the decals. I might just have to do this one over the winter.

Opps that should have read 73 and 74 versions.. Must have been exposed to too much model glue when typing.

Anyone know what the best paint color to use. Tamiya ts-16 Yellow looks too dark for Sugaripe yellow? Any ideas?

I have an idea.......Dupi-Color makes a light yellow that looks just about right for the Sugaripe Prune Special. It's what I used on my Hinkle Special months ago.
Hope this helps and best to you!
