Would there be any interest?

Below is a list of cars that I think could be done using the upcoming Monogram Kurtis Kraft Roadster. I have a friend that has an Alps 1000 series printer that he wants to sell. My sons best friend is a 3rd year art student and he says would be willing to try to do some art work for me for some decals. 1946 to 1964 are my favorite years for Indy cars I already have several of these kits and a few Cadie decals for them. I do not want to be a decal manufacturer but to get the ones I want I am thinking of putting out the money to do this package. What I would like to know is if there is any other interest and in which cars. I am not saying for sure it will happen there are a lot of things that would have come together for it first of all how well the art work is and how well I could make the decals. The overall cost to me would be less if I could sell some decals say making 10 or so of each. So please tell me which decals you would be interested in. Also any tips from anyone already doing this would be great even if its "Don't do this you idiot" here is the list.

I think you will find interest in anything on your list. I will have to check photos for the ones that I want to build and get back to you. For sure you should add the "Deans Van Lines Spl" for Jimmy Bryan. When available I know I will buy a dozen of those kits. I only have 5 now.

Wasn't Jimmy Bryans Dean Van Lines Special a Kuzma I think it would take a lot of work to do that car

I will have to check my photos. I remember a Deans car that looked like a Kurtis with a flat rear deck ( no headrest). Old Calhoun will know.

Just looked at some 1955 photos. I don't know if it is a Kurtis or not. You could modify a Kurtis to look like that car.

What about the Ferrari with a little modification? The 55 Dean car is a Kuzma

According to my many books on the subject of Indy Cars, Jimmy Bryan's 1955 ride was indeed a Kuzma. According to Bib Clidinst, a not very good copy of a Kurtis was....and of course, with a little time, effort and putty, you can get that car from the good old Monogram Kurtis Roadster kit.

Thanks Russ, it sure looked like a Kurtis to me except for the flat deck. With some sheet styrene, putty, new grille, intake stubs, and moving the exhaust, it would be close enough for me. Internet sex would be the fastest way to get the goverment involved and tax the hell out of the web.

I'd be in for just about any decals on your list and some resin wheels/tires from DrDave. How about adding the '54 Hopkins Spl, #35, of Pat O'Conner.

The Hopkins #4 of Bill Vukovich was done by Michael, but the orange is a big problem in printing on an ALPS. Orange, Yellow and light blue do not print real good. I know this from printing on a MD 5000.

There should be a market for about anything with the re-release of the kit. Fred still has some of his available, so you might want to cross check those.

The Kurtis to Kuzma conversion isn't too bad looking using Bob C.'s drawings, so some of the Kuzmas would be interesting.
