Gentlemen: I have completed the third of 3 Monogram sports cars that began life as 1/24 slot car bodies: Scarab (Foyt-1964 Nassau winner), 1964 Ferrari 250F (LeMans winner), and lastly, the Porsche 904(1964 Targa Florio winner). This was gonna be a quick curbside build...wrong! First was the wheels/tires issue. The kit has hubcaps but they are not on the winning car. Waited a couple of years until I found Ukrainian Scale Production made a set. Then ran into my first LeMans Decals problem: after I ruined the first set, the second set came in out of register. Great customer service and replaced free and quickly. Back to the finish... The 904 is the "odd duck" of the Porsche line. Most Porsche's were rear engined (356/911); the 904 was mid-engined like its 1962 F1 car and 550/718.The 120 cu.in.flat four pumped out 175 h.p. and pushed the fiberglass bodied car to a top speed of 160. 100 units were made to make it eligible to compete in the FIA/GT Class. “ The 904's fibreglass body was made by spraying chopped fibreglass into a mold, the amount sprayed often varied in thickness over the shape of the car and as a result the weight of the various cars was somewhat inconsistent. Race-prepared four-cylinder 904s weighed in at approximately 1,443 pounds (655 kg) and the low weight gave the 904 the ability to accelerate to 60 mph (97 km/h) from a standstill in less than six seconds.” Yeah, if 1 guy can lift it, it’s fairly light! Wipers, mirror, and headlight covers to go… Comments , questions welcome! Thanks for looking! Tim

V. nice clean build of an iconic racer. I don’t think I’ve seen the Scarab or Ferrari, could you share some pix? BTW is the muscleman related to Igor?

Dan: You will notice in the photo that Igor’s son has the beginnings of a hump…Doing things like lifting 904’s is evidently bad on humps…🤣🤣🤣 I will post photos of “The 3 Monogram Musketeers “ shortly… Tim

Gentlemen: Well she has crossed the finish line! Antonio Pucci and Colin Davis win an unexpected victory. Neither would win another big name race. Ferrari boycotted the race, and the fast Porsche 718 prototype broke. An unusual choice of light green and blue… Almost all 904’s were painted silver. The seat was not adjustable, but the foot pedals were. Also, Porsche supplied different seats for different size people… The bottom front lights are fog lights with a black cover … I had to show this…hand painted gold letters…sheesh! Comments, questions welcome! Thanks for looking! Tim
