Been awhile for an F1 car for me, but feel free to skip to the pictures below.
Designed by Chris Murphy, after the implosion at Leyton House led to him leaving that team, he leaned heavily on his CG911 design and Johnny Herbert said that the 107 was a joy to drive. It is certainly an attractive car, although reliability issues and Lotus slowly sinking ship derailed its competitiveness. Eventually it was developed into the 107C and then the 109 before the money dried up and Lotus F1 was no more. And, even though I was never a fan of him when he was driving, I chose to model the car driven by Alex Zanardi. He has been through so much and continues to keep going each time. What he has accomplished post accident has been nothing short of astounding. So that's why I chose to go with car #11.
As for the kit, it is peak Tamiya 1/20 F1. Doubt there is much to beat it. Supremely well engineered. Fit was exceptional across the board and seams were in sensible places. Even the engine cover fits extremely well. I just built it box stock as I won't be displaying it with the engine cover off. The only real hassle with this kit is the entirety of the livery is comprised of decals. Each color section has another sponsor or color included on the same decal so you HAVE to use decals. You can't paint any of the colors except white. I picked up a spare sheet so I could battle my way through the livery. I did damage one section on the right sidepod and had to patch. The reds actually don't quite match but I'm not too worried about that. Overall I'm happy enough with it. Might try to pick up another 107 kit and build it as the 1992 car and livery.
