My son and I got to the Memorabilia Show after lunch Saturday and it was a very tame year for us. He had a $50 budget for the whole weekend but he was already over budget. He had spent $40 on Parkside IndyCar trading card packs plus another $30 for an IndyCar branded binder for them at the track Saturday morning.
Once at the show, it was great to see the regulars - Kevin, Walt, Lance, Michael, Bo, Stu, and Eric. I will actually talk to Chris one day, he is always busy or gone when I am at his table. I was sad to not be able to see anymore board members at the show. I do have to remind myself to look up from time to time to look around.
While looking through pins at the booth next to Michael at IndyCals, Mr. Portaro slyly handed me a replacement part I had requested. That vendor I was shopping asked what I was carrying then was still puzzled when I told him it was a chassis pan for a Marmon Wasp model. Thinking about the disconnect, it dawned on me that this guy had never seen a 3D print attached to the printing supports. LOL Michael, I got the replacement part home safe. The supports came in handy to tape around the weaker frame rail spots to protect it in transit before wrapping up in a t-shirt to be placed in a souvenir track cup for the plane flights home. Thank you for the great service!
I left this year's Memorabilia Show with only buying two Texas IndyCar pins from races I had attended, a 1983 CART yearbook, and an official cassette tape of the Rick Mears retirement speech from the 1992 Penske Christmas Party. I do not remember ever spending this little at a Memorabilia Show, but I was on a tight budget for this trip. A real shame because Bo and Walt had models at great prices that I really wanted to buy and hated to pass up. It took more self-control than I wanted to use on one of my favorite days of the year.
We have some great suppliers for scale modeling these days and they keep cranking out great pieces. A great time to be in the hobby!
Already looking forward to next year!

We had a truly horrendous week up in Anderson Indiana for the annual Little 500 battling demons on the car all week. One year it’ll all go smooth or we’ll hang it up and I’ll get up to this show. It always looks great.
