or did Mother nature make it all a bit anti-climactic. I enjoyed the 500, but everything else not so much.

I think for me, it was disappointing that NBC did a lazy race replay of 2023 Indy 500 rather than play historical moments from Indy 500 history, there is so much to talk about, and they totally ignored it. No mention of 30 years since Al Jr won his 2nd Indy 500, no mention of the history and famous moments of races past.
Missed opportunity imho

I would have loved some more educational videos on things, like the one they did on the weight jackers that Kyle Larson needed to get informed about. There is so much technology that they could have done some videos about. It sure was a good race.

It was a bit different but I still enjoyed every minute of it.

It was a bit different but I still enjoyed every minute of it. Same here. Nothing I could do about the rain so I just took the storm in as a new Indy experience and enjoyed it. Seeing the race run under the long shadows of early evening was surreal. As I said on my Facebook page summing up my 40th 500 "Like every other month of May, this was unlike every other month of May."

I’m tired of a yellow Pennzoil car always being called “The Yellow Submarine by commentators. Leigh Duffy wasn’t the only one that said it but he’s abused it enough. Along with “The Drive for Five.” It’s getting as bad as when Cheever being in love with Alonzo during the broadcast a few years ago. And great people watching time under Tower Terrace during the rain. Maybe it’s just me.

Why is it that I could watch the F1 race, including the entire clean-up, from start to finish without seeing a single commercial, but they chopped up the 500 with a thousand and one commercials?

Along with “The Drive for Five.” It’s getting as bad as when Cheever being in love with Alonzo during the broadcast a few years ago. And great people watching time under Tower Terrace during the rain. Maybe it’s just me. I think that is a Pennzoil and/or Penske thing. I loved the Mears in the Z7 Special, so I never liked the retro Penske Pennzoil paintjob being called the "Yellow Submarine". When I researched it, Pennzoil IndyCars stopped using Z7 after 1991 (after first year of John Andretti/Hall), therefore Z7 has had no relevance to Pennzoil products for three plus decades. So, I don't love the Mears tribute not being called the Z7 Special like the Mears cars, but I have come to understand over the last decade that Z7 has no relevance to their products anymore. I did enjoy the red firesuit for Scott to wear. Was sad he did not wear on qualifying weekend. I remember when Helio finally wore the red retro firesuit one year for a Pennzoil Indy year, and I now realize was probably way too happy over a firesuit color LOL Indianapolis for the 500 is my happy place, so I am recharged from being there with my son and my racing friends. Was great to finally meet Jerry, my fellow admin here, and shake his hand. Also, met Michael Peters for the first time in person whom I sim-raced with 15+ years ago before reconnecting with him on this board. Always great to spend time talking to the regulars - Kevin, Walt, Lance, Michael, Stu, Bo, and Eric. Hate that I could not see more guys from here this year. I thought the 500 was an instant classic and I was VERY GLAD to get it run on Sunday. A 46 lap green flag run to finish and yet the lead kept flipping back and forth to where you could not tell who would win until it was over and I felt that whomever could win through all of that would be a deserving winner. A LOT of the passes for the lead were completed before the yard of bricks so I was ready for another repeat of 2006. Felt gutted for Pato, he drove a great race. Already looking forward to 2025 and hoping to be there again. Trying to get my Dad to one more 500, so we can have a three generations there at least once. If we do get us all three there then it will be my 12th, my Dad's 9th, and my son's 5th. Jordan

The commercials since nbc took over have been absolutely atrocious. And Indycar itself does no favors to itself.
