Built several of these as a kid, never did a good job on one. Always had trouble with the Monogram decals. When I found a nice aftermarket sheet, I decided to make this my "relaxing OOB build" before my hip replacement surgery in mid-March. Didn't get it done, for a simple kit it has some fit problems, plus I decided to add Indycals round Dzus decals, seatbelts, upgrade the dash with gauge decals, PE bezels and an ON/OFF toggle, and some plug wires. Kit is nicely done, fairly accurate as far as it goes, but does lack a few items, like a tie rod, pedals, rear suspension (other than radius rods) and some interior tin work. Also decided to move it forward a couple of years in time to when the tires had gotten a little bigger, with some old resin dirt tires I had, keeping one stock front tire on the LF. Don Edmunds and his Autoresearch Co. debuted the real car in 1966, it was the cover car on Hot Rod Magazines July 1966 issue. My thought was if Edmunds had kept the car for a few years, he would have been using the latest wider tires on it, of course. So, post surgery, as soon as I could sit comfortably at the bench, I finished it up. Here are a few pics, thanks for looking. See, Paul, I DO finish one once in a while! I agree with everyone else. This is such a nice example of this old kit. I love it. Once I’d like to build one day. Great work. I’ve had the honor of working on and Edmunds midget one time. Chassis plate was there and everything. It was super cool.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! When I was getting ready to snap the pics, I was telling my wife about the first example of this kit that I bought. It was probably 1969, I ordered this kit from the original Auto World in Scranton, PA. Guessing the arrival date of my order, based on previous orders, I faked being sick the day it was expected and got to stay home, get the package at 11 AM from the mail man and start right in on building it! 11 years old, home alone, with a cool model to build, doesn't get any better than that! Still have parts from that original kit in my spares bin! Next up (to be finished, anyway) will be one of the Lindberg dirt cars, with a few details and updates like this one.

Nice job! I always liked that car. Don Edmunds was an artist. You did it justice!

Thanks, Steve! Not too many Edmunds cars came this far east (NY/PA), not sure I ever saw one in the flesh, but as BobbyC said, he was an artist! Check out his site if you haven't already.
