Hi group,
Please list one F1 and one Indy Car you would like to see made available in scale for each decade listed. Please try and choose subjects that have not already been produced. Maybe just maybe some of them will come to fruition in 1/24 or 1/25.
50's F1 - 50's INDY - 60's F1 - 60's INDY - 70's F1 - 70's INDY - 80's F1 - 80's INDY -
Thanks, Trevor Taylor Corner 5 Hobbies

I'll have to think about the F1 but the IndyCar is easy 1/25 March 84C was the chassis of choice for 30 of the 33 Indy 500 starters in '84

Are we talking plastic or resin?
70s: F1 - Arrows A1 or A2, Indy, 70 Colt if plastic, 75 Wildcat if resin 80s: Indy 82 Wildcat or 81PC9B, F1 McLaren MP4/2

They would be in resin. The Arrows A2 has been done in resin by A-one of Japan and the McLaren MP4/2 in plastic by Protar. Both are expensive and difficult to find of course.

Okay....I'll way in on this topic.
In F-1, I'd like to see a good Vanwall, and good and cheap Ferrari 156 sharknose...and an early F-1 Tyrrell like the one Jackie Stewart drove.
As for Indy Cars, and 82 Wildcat, a 1930's two seater Miller, and a good 1961 Winner, a Trevis/Watson. Thanks to Bill Jorgensen and Lance Sellers, most Indy Cars i'd like are covered and the Monogram Kurtis isn't bad once you clean it up and do some work on it.
Best to you

Hi Trevor,
Since many of the *available* models are no longer really *available* I might quote some picks for new releases that could actually be *bought*. As a business venture I would be more willing to cast items that are in demand, and would be available in our lifetime. ;D
50's INDY - Kuzma Roadster (Kurtis Roadster) 60's INDY - '58-'62 Watson ('61 Watson) 70's INDY - any! 80's INDY - '84 March
50's F1 - Ferrari Lancia D-50 w/separate side tanks (Vanwall) 60's F1 - '67 Eagle (Snarknose Ferrari) 70's F1 - ? 80's F1 - ?

I think it would hard to go wrong with 67' Eagle-Weslake that Gurney won at Spa.
To my knowledge, it has never been done in 1/24th.

Trevor,
This question was just to hard for me to pick just one. Especially when it comes to Indy cars. Lance and Bill have been doing a great job, but their kits are not always available and most are short run that we'll probably never see again. Of course I keep praying that they'll rerelease them at some point in the future. I know I'm missing a few of them myselft. I also understand that it's just too hard for a one man operation to keep all those kits on hand while trying to produce new kits.
There are still holes to fill for each year you have mentioned even into the 90s. So I'll list the ones at the top of my indy list, just not all of them.
Indy 60's - 66-69 Lolas, 66/67, 69 Eagles 70's - 70/71 Eagles, 77 McLaren, 77 Parnelli 80's - PC9b, PC 10/11, 82 Wildcat, 83/84 March 90's - 91 Penske, 93/94 Penske
I'm sure there's many others I haven't even thought about, but that's a good start!

How about a JPS Lotus 79? Or has that one been done in 1/24-1/25?

Hey Trevor!
I still want a Lotus 16 or how about a good 18! (my Mk18 isn't so accurate)
I'll go for a Belgium GP Eagle
How about a Lotus/JPS 72!!!
For Indy my vote stays with Smokey's side-car!!
...but...a Lotus 18 or 72...hummmmm tasty!

Trevor It looks like many folks here share my support for a 66-67 Eagle. Since the Indy and F1 cars are the same except for the engine and details, it seems to be a good first project. You can put me in for at least 3. Craig

From the engine forward, they are the same car. The F1 cars had different fuel cells (no strapon exernal tanks) and later small front wings and vents. According to the book "Gurneys Eagles" the design of the tub was the same. The later F1 cars had many titanium parts, but the design is the same.

Thanks for the input guys. I know there is a 1/24 Gurney Eagle F1 in the works. Not by me. The 82 Wildcat and 84 March both seem pretty popular.
Thanks again, Trevor

But if the Olsonsite Indy kit has the external tank wil the F1 car doesn't, how are we supposed to do the F1 car?

Professor sent me drawings of the '67 Eagles. It shows both the Indy Car and the F-1. Main differences are in the suspension being symmetrical for the F-1 car and offset for the Indy car and some minor body detail, possibly the engine cover, IIRC.

The 66 Indy Eagle did not have offset suspension, while the 67 had 1 inch. Converting a F1 car to Indy should not be a major problem, different engine and the external tanks. That is why I think that car should be a nobrainer, but nobody has done one yet. If I had any talent, I would try it myself.

I stand corrected. I didn't have the drawings in front of me. Memory isn't a great thing if something wasn't really studied! ;D
