1964 Mario Andretti Midget 1/18th scale

This photo of Mario Andretti always intrigued me. Mario sitting on a wooden guardrail with tall weeds around. I wanted to recreate this scene for a long time and finally decided too. I used a GMP midget racer, built the wooden guard rail, and added a sitting driver figure. Many thanks to Gary at Circle Track Decals for the decals.

I wonder what Mario is thinking in this moment? Maybe pondering what's in store in the next 30 years? Or, is anyone going to ever come pick me up? LOL

Great build and the diorama is icing on the cake! Many years ago, someone was selling a corrected resin nose and grill for this car (1/25), still regret not getting one.

Some of us may have no clue about Mario's early years and know him only from Indy and F1. This is really well done. What imagination to start with and the history about what might have been. Just great. Mario was a "shoe" before he was one.
It is fascinating to see what you can do with one of these old kits. Just love this. Thanks, Stu.

That picture is so evocative and your rendition captures it perfectly.
I also remember a conversion for the Revell offy midget from a while back. I have regretted not getting it ever since.

So far yes Jordon. I actually started collecting for the first time. Will see how long that lasts! LOL
