Provence Moulage did indeed do a small series of hydroplanes to 1/43, I had them all in the stash before the fire.Simple but very nice kits. They are very spendy nowadays.
Craftmasters out of Seattle sell both 1/48 as well as 1/25 resin kits of hydroplanes on eBay.Again, very simple kits but the decal sheets are insanely beautiful and with the recently available plywood decals in various shades a guy could build a killer collection of race boats.
this new plastic kit looks like a dream come true!

According to the Miss Madison Unlimited Hydroplane Facebook page, they will be available from the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum and at the races in June.

They’re available for pre-order. If you want one, get it now because quantities are very limited from what I’ve seen on their page. www.hydromuseumstore.org/models/

Well crap! I was having a fire sale on a few unwanted kits to buy one of those, the only one I was interested in.

So…I was looking through the available kits as I am also more interested in piston power. Evidently the kit for the “museum boats” with multiple build options also comes with a piston engine. So I’ve ordered one of those and another boat. Super cool idea from the museum

Got my Bucket List kit today! My first reaction is about the quite thick plastic. Not really a problem with a hull this size, but I did find it surprising. I’m also wondering what type of plastic it is. I’m wondering if it’s ABS. A bottle of glue is included, but it looks like a super glue. I’d rather use a plastic glue if possible. I believe this is a generic kit so I’m studying the Bucket List Facebook page. I’m wondering if their 2022 entry looks the closest to this kit. Most obvious, the air intake seems to have changed each season. Now I’m in search for good photos of the underside of the boat.

Paul Erlendson I don't have my kits yet, but Im assuming all the kits are generic besides the U-3 Allison. But the boats all have their slight differences and all are designed to turn left and the right side of the boat is ALWAYS different than the left. As you can see the 2023 Bucket List Racing boat is completely different on each side. FYI this picture is NOT to scale, the type of lense makes it look long and stretched out

Thanks Calvin. I’ve been away from the sport so long I’ve got a lot to learn. Are this seasons races televised anywhere?

I picked up the Oberto kit at the museum yesterday. They were just unpacking the boxes that had cleared customs a few days ago. Mine came with a paint set, a stand to mount the model on and a battery powered speaker to simulate the engine noise. The instructions are pretty basic (not surprising). Knowing me, I'll probably have this built sometime in the 2030's.

A bunch of those 1/43 Provence Moulage kits mentioned earlier have shown up on eBay, sold by a guy called tmax_propsAt $175.00 each prices are a little too steep for me.

I ordered the Oberto kit just because it's a local company and I didn't have any favorites. Hopefully I'll get mine soon.

Got mine yesterday. The plastic and packaging looks good. Not sure about the sound thingy. I like that they included it but the switch doesn't seem to work correctly. I had to put the little piece of plastic back under the battery to turn it off.

I got mine in the mail today. LOL Im going to build the U-3 Allison, first...maybe I've watched this boat run in real life a few times and it's such a lovely sound, especially on the water with the big huge twin turbos Was about ready to start cutting on mine. Glad someone who knows what he’s doing is going first. Paul Erlendson

Just what I ALWAYS need. 🤦🏻♂️😂 If I’d known about the Griggs website I’d have likely done the same. But I ordered a turbine boat too because I thought one of each would be neat.
