Two donor cars were used to make this car. A Spark resin F1 Lotus 25 was used for the body. I highly modified the the rear of the body and placed a DOHC Ford from a damaged Carousel 1 Lotus 38. Also taken from the Lotus 38 was the offset suspension. Several suspension pieces from the junk Lotus 38 were broken and were replaced with aluminum tubing. In 1964 Team Lotus decided to use Dunlop tires instead of Firestone. This ultimately caused the car to DNF when tire damage and rear suspension failure took the car out while leading the race. I chose to build the car in qualifying trim because I liked this version better than the raced version. It's also how the car is in the IMS museum. I used 1963 Lotus decals for Indycals and inverted the #9(2) to a #6 for the 1964 car.

Stu, Really nice job, Stu. I saw this car in the pits and remarked to a friend how flimsy the suspension looked. Colin Chapman pushed the envelope in making his cars light. He went too far with this one because the suspension collapsed after about 50 laps. Your car has faired much better. Thanks for sharing. Jim

Stu, this is a really great looking Lotus 34. Seems like it was a bunch of work has been glossed over, this was a lot to do and you did a wonderful job on all of it. The paint and the details are all top notch. Super sweet!!
