Hi all,
I'm getting to the point where I can tell a March from a Lola, but the differences between the model years still have me baffled. I got a great deal on a Provimi March 88C at a contest a couple of weeks ago, and I'd like to build an 86C. Can the 88C kit be built as an 86C, or do I need to hunt down the Cummins March kit?
Thanks!
Ben

I would recommend just getting a 86c cummins kit. They go cheap on ebay all the time. Most everything is different between a 88 and 86.

Ben, First of all the Provimi car is a Lola not a March. That is the car Arie Luyendyk ran in 1988 for Dick Simon and Mike of Indycals has just printed the correct decals for the Indy 500 of that year. (Feel free to help me out here Mike.) By the way Arie finished 10th in that race. As far as Marches are concerned the 1988 March is very different from the 1986 March. Your best bet is to track down the Cummins car. They still can be had on ebay every now then at a decent price.

Yep, my Provimi sheet is for the 1988 500. As far as converting an 88C to an 86C, I think it would be easier to sculpt an 86C from scratch.

First of all the Provimi car is a Lola not a March. Hi guys, Can I claim sleep deprivation and failing memory? I had picked up a Dominos March, too, and got them mixed up! Next time I'll actually look at the boxes before I ask my question, rather than go from memory. I'll hunt down a Cummins kit. Thanks for all of your help and for being patient with the noob. ;D Ben

Ben,
One note about that Dominos March. The team only raced the March version of this car for a few races in 88. The car that Dominos fielded in the 500 was a Lola T8800. In fact, some of the pictures on the AMT Dominos March 88 box top are actually of the Lola T8800.

I've got some airplane kits that are a little higher up the priority list, and I'm making a valiant (but failing!) attempt to keep my stash down to a manageable level. ;D Cheers! Ben
