I really suck at painting the FORD / COSWORTH logos on engine headers on my 1/20 scale F1 kits. I’m wondering if there is a source for FORD and COSWORTH Decals for 1/24 and 1/20 DFV engines.

Not that I’m aware of. However have you tried painting the white or whatever color you want. And then painting black over that and then gently sanding with a thin stick to reveal the lighter color?

...the FORD / COSWORTH logos on engine headers... Rusty I think you mean "on the cam covers".

I´ll be doing those this week. If someone is interested and think that can provide measurements, data, anything... it´ll be welcome

I had been considering the Photo Etch Ford and Cosworth lettering for an upcoming build, since my hand lettering has somewhat dissipated.. Chris

Hi guys! My concept of "this week" is somewhat loose... THough THIS week it could really happen. I don´t need to tell you, life gets in the middle so frequently.. If anthing, on the other hand, I attended a local Modeling contest and won (ooooohhh!!!) a bronze medal, first time in my life.News on the camcover letters soon. I have them designed, I´ll try to check if you agree on the size before printing. Cheers

Hi guys. I have the typical FORD as on F1 DFVs, and also the COSWORTH. They are 3.11mm and 5.9 mm long, respectively.

I have found this trick to be useful if the lettering is raised on the valve cover. Apply a piece of bare metal foil over the letters and burnish it down really good. Just enough to cover the letters. Then, paint the whole cover black. Once dry, there are a couple ways to remove the black paint. Lightly wet sand with 1500 grit sand paper or, carefully wipe the top of the lettering with a damp Q-tip dipped in Goof Off or Acetone. Don't saturate it or it will run down your cover and ruin the cover paint. Too much will even eat the plastic. Go slow and if done right, your covers will be black and the lettering silver or chrome.
