I built these two kits at the same time to give as gifts this year. It cut into my race car modeling but that's ok. I had fun with them and they were well received by the people I built them for. First some size comparisons. 1/24 Mazda MX-5 to 1/25 GTO
The MX-5 was for my mom. She has the 1:1 version of the car and loves it. So I thought she may like a scale version too. Beautiful modern Tamiya kit.
The the AMT 1968 GTO for my father-in-law. A car he used to own and one he says is the only one he regrets selling. This is a new tool kit but they based it off the old promo tooling. It's also from their Craftsmen Plus line and thus has no engine. I pulled a Pontiac V8 out of the old, horrible 67 promo style GTO and installed it, along with some underhood details.
