For your edification and delight, a model of a device I have been long in thrall to- a contraption with no equal, a design that pushes the boundary between the rational and the fantastical. This device saw first use in 1930 and plodded on until WWII caused its patrons to turn their attention to other pursuits. In its heyday, it served as a sort of magic carpet for the lucky few to explore their Empire before the curtain came down. Imagine a multi day trip from Cairo to Capetown or from Budapest to Baghdad. All in first class. I have wanted a model of this since forever, but the only available kits were either vacform or the wrong scale. Recently I became aware of this kit from one-man-model.main.jpIt is 3D printed resin, with lots of parts, correct shapes, but rather rough surfaces. I spent little time smoothing the surfaces, settling for a (somewhat) exaggerated “fabric” look. The windows openings were covered in tape, filled with UV curable resin and radiated. Decals were obtained from Arctic Decals in Finland. Sprayed with Duplicolor Bright silver metallic

Holy Cow. This thing is too dang cool. I've seen photos of this in the past. What an awesome subject to build. I like the look you've achieved using the texture to your advantage. Great work.

The Handley Page HP 42 aircraft model is in 1/72.
The gold bottle represents a Tokay wine made from grapes grown near the Carpathian Mountains. Nothing but the best for our patrons, m’lud.

My dear Conductor: The wine was most excellent! In this scale it must be about.5mm tall.🤣🤪😵💫 I will let you know the quality of your wine after I try the beverages on the Dornier DOX X1, which is the only plane capable of being this “cooly fantastical!” But “someone” would have to build it: hint, hint… Lord Jones

Another fine mess you’re getting me into! The same model manufacturer also has a Do X and I’ll admit to having an unhealthy interest in it, but the CFO has firmly quashed my proposal.
Sigh. . . . What we artistes have to put up with. . .

Well, That lead me to looking up the Do X. What a fascinating machine!. Definitely would be an awesome one to have up on a shelf somewhere. Too cool.
