Hi All, Sad news today. The Dallas Morning News has announced that the Devil's Bowl Speedway near Dallas has been sold and will be closing. The Edwards family has operated the track for fifty years or more. Lanny Edwards was also a partner with Emmett Hahn in the Chili Bowl. The Devil's Bowl was the first track to host a World of Outlaws sprint car race. That was back in 1978 and it was cold as hell. And, yes, I was there. Over time, the track hosted a total of 88 WoO races. No word on when, or if, the track will host more races, but it seems doubtful. Best, Gary

That is sad news! I watched a lot of WOO races there in the early 80's

Race tracks are passing from our lives at an ever increasing pace.

Some friends of mine and acquaintances have raced a ton at Devil's Bowl with their winged 305s. They're pretty bummed out about it as well. Shame that such a historic track will be going away.

Well, at least they’re building a new F1 track at Las Vegas!
