A couple of kind comments about it, I thought I'd give a brief look at the build. I guess 2, 2 1/2 yrs ago? It's not that bad a kit, you just have to remember that Heller gives you the parts, it's up to you to figure out where they go and make them fit.
The tub is easy
Everybody criticizes the plastic tires, but when they're done they look just like resin tires
Made my own steering rack
Distributor and pump are straightforward, easier than Tamiya
I actually prefer the Heller powertrain

Step one is to throw out the instructions, just build it
I pre-assembled the side pods, building them in place is impossible

The fun part. The kit exhausts just don't fit, so I made my own. Collectors are my own resin castings, pipes are #12 copper house wire

Fast forward, the rear end requires careful alignment
Getting there
And it's done
Indycals decals or it won't work, lol.
I personally feel the end result is as good as any Tamiya kit, just a bit more effort to do.
Hopefully this helps / inspires any of you who decide to try it.
cheers Paul
ps: I have a brand new kit of this in the closet if there's any interest

Looks great! Very impressive!
Mine is stalled waiting for paint/decals. The Heller decals suck but Michael doesn't include the white in his sheet. Being 1/12 I can understand, but the paint job's a b***h.

Oh heck yeah. What a beauty. I love the JS-11. I have the little Tamiya one to build sometime. Your 1/12 scale is way cooler than that

I love the header scratch building. Great technique, you should have showed them off painted.
Nice job on the big Ligier! All the detailing adds to the realism. Thank you for sharing the build and the WIP.

It seems this is the only photo I took (or can find, lol)
Kit headers vs my own creation. The exhaust pipes from collectors back are styrene rod bent to shape and connected by steel pins. A lot of work for little gain as it's mostly hidden when the car is completed, but the old saying "I know they're there"?
I always thought that Ligier built a better Lotus, and Williams built a better Ligier. The Ligier sure was pretty though!

Hi,
Awesome work! This kit is far from being an easy one to build… But this is a beautiful and successful car!
