A TransAm Firebird (as opposed to a Firebird Trans Am)

I have nowhere near the scratchbuilding skills of some of our members, so I thought I'd post this just to show how I do it. Please feel free to laugh, I'm used to it. 

The premise was to build this

from basically this

The chassis is a generic Revell TA that I use as a test mule - they're both 1/25th scale.

The wheelbase is fine

The tube frame is too narrow and will be adjusted

first we radius the wheel openings with a dremel

then we use anything that's the right diameter - these are exactly right, I'm sure you'll recognize what they are.

trimmed and a test fit

a start on the new chassis, appropriately modified

I sometimes use epoxy medium, but this is JB Weld, works just as well.

And prime, fill, sand, prime, sand and repeat as required

(the T-tops were a royal pain)

If I went much further, the body wouldn't go on

I had a decal sheet for some of it, but I didn't trust it and a lot was missing, so these are all home printed - my first set off the new Epson printer.
