Tim Richmond 1980 Rookie of the Year 1/18th Conversion

I took a Replicarz Rick Mears 1979 PC6 Indy 500 winner (Sorry Jordan) and converted it into Tim Richmond's 1980 PC7.
Like many of you have done in 1/25th scale using the Scale Auto Magazine article, I did basically the same thing in a larger scale.
This car was built for the son whose father painted the real car. It was purposely built in qualifying trim.

ANOTHER Great job, STU! that puppy sure looks good. For a second there, I was wondering how you got my build...LOL It seems you and I (so far) are the only ones that built Tim's ROOKIE car. I want to do Bobby Unser's car one day. Where did you get the Decals for this car? They look good.

Much fun and a nice job. The color scheme always popped on this one. Richmond was a character. Remember Rutherford giving him a ride back to the pits on his sidepod. Thanks,

Thanks Gary - Some of the decals are from Circle Track. Mainly the white decals. While I generally love Gary's decals I was not happy with some of the font's and some of the colors did not match my paint. So, I would say that 70% of the decals are mine.

I will post another fun thing I did with 1980 Rutherford winner soon.

Thanks for the info STU. I got my decals from Gary also. I usually get two sets because they are super thin. Once I got used to them, they were easy to work with.

Cool car with a cool personal connection home. The PC7 looks really good and nice to know it isn't impossible from the Replicarz PC6.

She is a beautiful build. Congrats!

Jordan, had a random cold chill down his spine when you stripped the Mears paint off. Lol 😂

Fantastic work on this one too. This is one of my favorite Indy cars of that era. Such a great livery and a great driver.
