A spacer was added between the engine and gear box to lengthen the wheelbase, photos in a day or two.

Just noticed for the first time this car had an offset suspension. I checked some period photos and they seem to support this.

I believe you are correct Lance as I have not noticed this before either! Most likely I wouldn't have noticed until you pointed it our. On checking some of my pictures, I believe that even the front wings also match the offset. Some of the photos I have bear that out. If you look closely you can see three screws holding the gurney flap on the right side of the front wing and only two on the left side front wing. From a top view that I have that is borne out and you can see the offset of the suspension ever so slightly.

It looks like only the right front is offset (maybe this is normal?). The rear wing and rear tires seem to be centered on the roll bar.

I believe there is also an offset at the rear based on the differences in the areas between the red lines and the fact one can see more of the inside of the right rear wing end plate than that of the left (the rear wing would be from center line to center line of the rear tires). The photo does appear to be taken down the center line of the car. I will do more research to confirm. Thanks for posting your thoughts on this.

It would seem you have the same pictures that I have Lance. While I can see an offset of the front suspension and wings, the pictures do not make it clear enough for a definite decision on my part. Even with the "rear on" picture of the car and it is too tough to tell for me if there is an offset of the rear suspension or not. I'll let you continue your research, it will be interesting to find out!

Based on My knowledge of Indy Car Design, the Rear would have to be offset because if it wasnt the car would always either washing out towards the wall or consistently chasing the front end to the right. The symetrics wouldnt work if not.. my 2 cents...want change? Chris

I have not seen the rear end shot until a few minutes ago, it shows no offset from that view. I do tend to over think things occasionally.

Progress has been slowed a bit while I am making new molds for the Colt but I am still enjoying this one a lot. Have been working on the external tank mounted by the right rear and new pair of air splitters for the front wings.

Just great, Lance. The 1968 Gurney Eagles were like a good wine. With adaptions they were wicked fast for several years in the hands of Mosley and Rutherford. Several small teams filled USAC races for years with these cars sometimes with stock block Chevies. Thanks for this, Jim.

Just for the heck of it I took my digital calipers and measured the distance from the tire to the edge of the tub on the rear view photo above, and the left was 7.32mm the right 10.98mm I dont know what the conversion to Actual 1 to 1 inches would be but 3.66mm is a good offset. My 1/2 a cent... Chris

Well, this stir's the pot some more (LOL) but I appreciate your 1/2 cent! I will be slowing work on this one until the Colts are done.

It seems you've done well with the Colt and I am really glad for you on that one. It was really needed! I certainly was glad for that one. It's good and exciting to see you doing something else! I really love watching you at work and what you're going to come up with next! Thanks for pushing forward and hanging in there!
