Back in May I visited the Vintage Indy Registry shops. They had just restored Dario's 2002 7-Eleven Big Gulp car. Mike Lashmet who runs the Registry told me that the green they used is Fluorescent green. Now anyone who's seen those cars in person knows that green is bright, but doesn't hit your eyes like a traditional fluorescent color. Today I saw a can of paint at Michaels that looked just like the color I saw back in May - and it too is called Fluorescent Green, so I bought it to see what it looks like - and it was spot on! it's an acrylic and seems to work well with lacquer thinner.

How appropriate you would find it at Michael's.

Don't call the store Mike's, it's Michael's. 😉

As seen in the below linked Getty image, how was the green on Dario's helmet significantly brighter than the car if the car itself was any level of brightness near fluorescent green? I would say if someone had a access to a Kool helmet visor from 2002 era, the car is the same as that green. www.gettyimages.com/detail/news-photo/dario-franchitti-of-scotland-sits-in-his-car-before-heading-news-photo/51688277That being said, thank you for sharing as that would be nice to try on a Danica/Hinchcliffe GoDaddy car, as opposed to the typically darker/mint fluorescent greens that are out there.

The neon on Dario's helmet is a true neon. The green out of this can does NOT look neon at all and it looks brighter in the above photo than it actually is because it's taken under a bright light. But it is a nearly exact match to the car. In fact it doesn't even fluoresce under a black light. If I was looking for a true fluorescent green paint, I'd be taking this back for a refund.

It should but I didn't see the helmet and car together. It's always possible it could be like the orange on the PNC car - there's more than one shade
