I recently attempted my first kit involving any resin at all in the form of Kevin's Eagle 997 transkit. I enjoyed it immensely and learned a ton. So, I decided I'd go ahead and crack into another of the resin kits I had purchased. Another of Kevin's creations. My first full kit in resin/white metal. I chose this car simply because I've always loved those early 80s Eagle's. The Pepsi Challenger still remains one of my all time favorite rear engine Indycars. Also, the story of this car, with little Al doing his utmost to block Sneva so his dad could win the 500 was another draw. A great story in Indy history. Perhaps not the most sporting maneuver ever but who could blame Al Jr at the time. A good looking car in the early Silver Bullet livery.
The build went pretty smooth. All the parts were pretty nice and smooth with only minor clean up needed on most parts. Kevin's instructions were clear. I used both his completed model photos and the interwebs as references for my own build. I have no idea what happened to the pop off valve, so I had to manufacture my own. Everything else on the build is directly out of the box. I'm really happy with how it turned out and it was another learning experience. I look forward to getting into some more of these resin kits. So grateful we have people putting out excellent kits of excellent subject matter. Thanks to all you creators. If you've read this long, then I'm sorry.
