Hi so let me introduce myself with my latest build, that I finished 8 days ago: the Indy 500 winner of 50 years ago (well, it looks at least somewhat like it...) I've built many old kits, but I have to say, this mid 70s AMT kit has aged the worst of all that I built. Many parts are ... chunky, too think, crude... there are hardly any holding pins, mostly you are supposed to "glue it somewhere there"... the shape is also a bit off... but at least I got it together and it does not look too bad, I think. The kit is originally the 1975 (I think) Patrick Eagle, but I got the decals for the 73 winner from Indycals. For that version, the rear wing should be a bit wider and the NACA duct in front of the cockpit is in a different position, but this kit is definitely not something for rivet counters anyway. What I did do is to 3D print new fuel buckeyes and drilled a hole for the 2nd one like the 73 car had. I also printed new mirrors the replace the kit parts where the ejector marks were craters half the size of the part. I also replaced several rods with thinner plastic rods and tried to make the shape of the nose a bit less blunt by removing material from the bottom and hide it a bit with the metal flap at the front. The tires were also 3D printed. Painted with TS36 (what I never noticed before: TS36 seems to lighten up a bit under clear - except where protected by decals... so in the future, I should clear over TS36 first, and then add the decals, then the final clear on top) and all kinds of metal colors around the engine (Alclad, TS, Aqua Color, Vallejo, Molotow). Mr. Super Clear on Top. I covered the front suspension with Bare Metal Foil, which went quite well, I think. Hope you like it.

The AMT kits weren’t great, but you made this one a real beauty. Great job!

Beautiful work on such an unforgiving kit.

As I said on F1M - I think that is one of the worst Indy car kits ever made and you turned it into a work of art!

Really good job, Marco (and welcome...)! I did not know this kit: i don't like the windshield, really too massive (but, of course, it’s not your fault...) I hope to see more of your works soon!
