1965 was the first Indy 500 I saw live. Not in person mind you, but on close circuit TV. I was 17 and my uncle took me. I remember it very fondly. Prior to that I had sat listening to Sid Colin’s and the gang on the radio. Texaco had a national contest to predict the winner’s average speed over the 500 miles. I was a big Jim Clark fan and was rooting for him. I was also a James Bond fan and so my average speed prediction was 151.007. In fact Clark did the race in an average of 150.686 mph. How did I not win! Lol I’ve never seen Clark’s Lotus 38 in person, but I was fortunate to see AJ’s Lotus a few years ago. And hopefully I’ll get around to building Lance’s kits in my stash one of these days. Paul Erlendson
