Have to admit I got up and had a real close look at the livery of the winning car on the lift to the podium and thought 'oh bugger! Its a gradual fade from the red to the yellow. How they all gonna get that done?' Be interested to see the solutions everyone comes up with.. Actually it's red to butterscotch to yellow. Anyone who wants to build it will have to get good with their airbrush.

Practice on something else until I get the spray adjusted to be able to pull it off. It will no doubt be a 5 to 6 step process to get all those different layers and solid colors on. Should be fun!

I think these new drivers need a class on driving. ALL the restarts were bad.... some jumped the gun in turn 3!
FYI... I do believe it IS a penalty to go below the pit commitment line and not enter the pits. I don't want a penalty to effect the outcome of a race, but both drivers were guilty.

βDo you have an aero screen lurking around somewhere?β, i asked innocently. . .

That was a red to yellow fade with a blue engine cover.. Definitely an exercise in airbrushing.

Michael, I am not trying to be a wise (expletive deleted), but Iβve see what you were able to do with TKβs winning car. Would you be able to do some kind of similar βwrapβ for Josephβs car?

I only make decals that I would use myself, and I would NEVER do that as a decal wrap.

I think airbrushing it will be easier than people realize. Everything will be planned out ahead of time. It's not like we'll hook the air brush up and start spraying and hope it comes out the first try. It's going to require many tests and adjustments before doing it. Its just a process, if the consistency of the spray isn't right, then keep adjusting and trying.

I wonder why Marcus didn't simply jump the start on the lap out of the pits. They waved off Pato's so they certainly would have waved off his. Game over...

Honestly I bet Marcus simply didn't think of it. But that is what he should have done.

I think in the future teams will have a code-word for the car that is lowest ranked on the team to be ordered to 'stall' before the race can be restarted. I know that's what I would do if I was running a team and my car was leading on a one lap restart - fight BS with BS.

Should-ofs and could-ofs....glad it worked out the way it did. I suppose new rules will be implemented to combat that scenario...or just go back to the old days when they finished under yellow. It seems like no matter what the decision someone will not be happy.

It seems like no matter what the decision someone will not be happy. Its a no win situation. I just know for a fact if I was head of race control, my pre plan goal of the day is to avoid finishing under yellow anyway possible. I get SO MAD when race fans say, "well I would've done this or that" from a complete hindsight point of view. People are ALWAYS a genius from a hindsight point of view. Also good at making up stories in their heads too! I garentee you race control was determined to not let the biggest race if the year finish under yellow because they didn't want to get experts on social itching and complaining about another yellow finish..

If they finished under yellow with 8 to go, the fans would be iching and complaining up a storm. We all know it too!
No race is perfect, some are going to be insane and messed up others are smoother.

I've seen my share of weird finishes over the 47 years I've been there and one in which we thought we knew who won until the next day.(which took months to figure out) I always understood that they could possibly end under yellow and it was always disappointing, but I don't think I ever felt like I did not get my monies worth regardless of how they finished. I just feel blessed to be able to get back there year after year and enjoy the event.

It seems like no matter what the decision someone will not be happy. My issue is this: If the caution comes out with 3 or 4 laps to go, that is circumstances dictating the outcome and it should end there. But by deciding on a restart with one lap to go, and knowing that the leader is a sitting duck, that is race control deciding to take the win away from the leader. And race control should not be deciding the outcome. There is no way the people that made that decision didn't know that Marcus would get passed. Same thing with Max and Lewis a couple years ago. Max would have likely won without having those backmakrers taken out of queue, but race controls decision insured it.

It was decided that no matter how Marcus handled the situation, the starter would be waving the green flag. Paul Erlendson
