Hello everyone I'm very excited to have been chosen to build the prototype kit of Krosnyak's 3D printed Ferrari 500 F2 model. First off, this is quit the undertaking on Krosnyak's part. Designing and engineering the fit of what looks like 214 parts! My first overall impressions are that this kit will build up as impressive as any MFH kit but easier and faster with less clean. First I'll share photos of the body panels. They have been well printed with very minimal layer lines. The hood did suffer some minor warping. this was corrected by applying some heat using a cheap Harbor Freight heat gun, then simple holding until cool. Note the see through louvers. The first photos show the hood before and after. All of these photo were taken before any sanding or clean up. More later Craig

Here's a little update. Body work all sanded with 400 grit sand paper. No putty was needed. Two coats of primer applied. It's now ready for paint. Two piece frame glued together. Note the guide pins for joining the rails together. All crossmembers in place. I'll test fit a few of the suspension pieces then paint the frame. No adjustments have been needed so for. Fit and ease of assemble have been impressive! Craig

Looking good! Just one question, are there printing supports to clean on the parts?

Looking good! Just one question, are there printing supports to clean on the parts? So far none of the parts I've worked with have had any supports. It appears that the parts have been printed directly to the build plate, thus leaving a nice flat and smooth surface. There is a few small parts coming up that have supports.

Update time. Frame painted, using Tamiya Neutral gray with a coat of Gunze super clear. Body panels painted with some old lacquer I've had sitting around for the last 20 odd years. That's how long it's been since I build a red Ferrari! Decals set, then one good coat of 2k clear. A little light polishing after that.

Craig: Maybe I need to start “aging” my paint!🤪 That is the smoothest paint I have seen in a very long time…keep up the excellent work! Tim

I made some big progress the last few days. Most of the engine assembled. Which includes the nicest looking Weber carbs I've seen. The engine sits perfectly on the engine mounts, so you can mock it up in the chassis as many times as you'd like. Fuel tank assembled and painted using my last can of metalizer stainless steel. Hold down straps painted and installed along with fuel lines. Dash painted and installed. Kit comes with printed gauges that you simple glue to the backside of panel. I then coated the gauge faces with UV cured glue for a face. Quick and easy. Also seat and shifter installed. At this time I applied a black wash to many of the chassis details. I'll pull the engine out and install the spark plug wires next.

Kros and Craig: This is an example of “Museum Quality!” The kit is awesome and Craig knocked it out of the park! Stupendous! Incredible! Outstanding! Superlative! Unbelievable! I’m running out of adjectives… Congratulations all around! An awesome combined project! Tim👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏

Kros & Craig: This guy approves! Alberto Ascari won 11 out of 15 Formula 1 races in 1952-53 with this car. Had (5) Hat Tricks- [Pole, Win, and Fastest Lap in 1952]-* tied by M Schumacher in 2004

I had never seen that photo!!! thank you for sharing. Man, as much as I have researched the car to make this kit, and I never thought of googling Alberto... there are tons of photos that I had never seen before! THANK YOU!

This is looking awesome Craig. Lovely paintwork too.
I can't wait 'til it is available to get my teeth into. I need to make 2 (Ascari in 1952 and 1953) and the Revival kit I have looks paltry in comparison to the detail and quality of Krosnyak's work. Displayed next to each other they'll look glaringly different.... Might have to sell a Kidney to be able to buy two of these with the shipping to the UK! :-)
