Fujimi 1969 Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Speciale

This is one of the builds I have had going that I have spent a bit more time on. Skip ahead to the photos.
This is from Fujimi's Enthusiast line and my first attempt at one of those. Packed with some wonderful looking pieces of plastic. This kit was fiddly in some parts as you'd expect from something with these details. The engine is particularly lovely and comes with a stand if you want to display it outside of the car. For display case size restriction purposes I went ahead and installed the engine. This kit replicates the first of the Daytonas and the last of one off coachbuilt Ferrari's. A special body by Pininfarina was employed with a unique targa-ish style roof. The back section of the roof was made of canvas and collapsed or folded away to allow the back of the cabin to be open. Painted blue with a white roof and classic Daytona wheels. The Daytona was a beautiful car and you have to love the V12 powerplant.
The Fujimi Daytona kit is really designed more as a later style Daytona. It is setup to have the hidden headlights instead of the fixed headlights behind the full width glass cover. Instructions tell you to cut out part of the nose structure if you want to use this look. However, they were rather vague on exactly what to cut. I believe I actually cut a bit too much, but I'm happy with the end result. I also added the plug wires to this engine. It was so nice out of the box I felt it would be remiss to not at least add those. I then used some tape around the rear section of glass and painted over it to replicate the look of the canvas section. Not the easiest kit I've ever gotten into but certainly one of my favorites. A really talented builder, as opposed to a kit constructor like myself could no doubt build an absolutely stunning example of a Daytona out of this kit. I'm not really sure I did it justice but it looks really nice on my shelf. Thanks for looking!
