Another build of the venerable old AMT kits. My first March build of theirs. I am aware the rear suspension is not correct but I didn't want to get into this build that deep so I have not rectified that. Not being a fan of the Rahals ever, this is one of those "wish it would've won" situations. Cogan always gets a bad rap but he had his days when he sure was downright fast. Another reason I wanted to get this built was just because I've always though the 7-eleven livery was just really nice looking. So a nice one to have up on the shelf.
As far as the build went, I didn't have too much trouble. Broke the front wing and had to pin and repair that. Forgot to install the rear axles before putting the engine halves together so I had to cut and remanufacture the center section of the axle. No big deal on that stuff, just my own incompetence. Mostly box stock, I just added some ignition wiring to the Cosworth and then I cut some rear wing end plates to replace the triangular kit ones. Fine for Al's winning car but the Cogan car had more normal wing end plates. Quick and mostly painless when I could get out of my own way. Another self inflicted wound was taping the separation of blue and white. I taped it a little too low. This came back to haunt me during the decal process, of course. I considered stripping it and doing a repaint, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth it. I just had to adjust a couple of the decals on the sides of the nose. Overall I am happy with it and it looks good in the display case. Thanks for looking.
