Typical Tamiya kit. Just what you expect, right out of the box. This is the latest release with supplied photo etch and belts and some lovely decals from Cartograf. Very well engineered, gives you no arguments. 


I decided to do the second place 61 car. I liked the driver lineup and the fluorescent red accents the best. Mauro Baldi, the Winner of endurance racing's triple crown. Hard to beat.  Also this car achieved some 248 mph down the Mulsanne in qualifying, the final year before they added the chicanes.



Not a whole lot to add other than that. I used all the supplied photo etch. Being from Tamiya it all pretty much went where it was supposed to and fit just how it should. Vent covers were a nice touch on the body as are the exhaust covers in the engine bay. Belts added nice detail that no one will ever see again. I also tried my hand at some carbon fiber decals, just to practice for some future builds that I want to add a lot of detail to. Results were mixed. Big learning curve there. But, I'm still happy with the results on this one and glad to have one of my favorite endurance racers up on the shelf!

Man Kyle...do you sleep at all? You're pumping these builds out at break neck speeds....and doing a GREAT job. This car is really good. Love the chassis and engine detail for sure... Keep them coming.....

Thank you Gary! I probably don’t sleep enough. 🤣 The wife’s hobbies are mostly outdoors, so they’re a no go right now. Work is slow in the winter and so is racing so I don’t do much else in my spare time. Makes for a fortunate amount of bench time. I’ll take it when I can get it.

What Calvin said! I try to build faster but just can't seem to. Thanks for building another kit that I'll probably never get to.

Tamiya kits do tend to spoil us to some of the other brands, don't they?

Thank you!! I’ll slow down when the weather breaks. Just taking advantage of the time I can get at the bench. You’re not kidding with Tamiya. Their kits are just nice.

Lol certain individuals joke that I don't build, like I use to, but actually I probably work even harder, now,since having a business, than 14 years ago when joined this board and built AMT kits. 😂

I have No doubt! It’s easy for me. Just sticking together some old AMT or Tamiya kits.

Very nice, and quite inspirational! Hurricane Irma blew the roof off of the garage, where I have my model building shop, and the collapsed ceiling allowed tons of rain to destroy everything in the shop. That kit is one of the few that I managed to salvage, and as soon as I recover from the broken back that hurricane Ian left me with, I plan on rebuilding the shop and build the Tamiya Sauber-C-9. thanks for posting such an inspirational build.
