Ramblings incoming, so skip those and get to the photos. I started this one back at the very end of 2022 during my Christmas/New Years break. Originally to go along in the background with Kevin's transkit of the 997 Eagle, which is a slow, but ongoing project. This is the Atlantis reissue of the classic Monogram kit tooled originally in 1976. I didn't go into this one with any plans at all, just have always thought the Mack AC was a really cool truck and when Atlantis reissued them it became easy to acquire the kit. I really can't say enough about this kit. Really well engineered, Atlantis either cleaned up the molds or they've held up extremely well. Fit is very nice and detail is really good too. I just couldn't stop working on it. I decided to just build at as basically a new truck but one that has started it's working life. With that in mind I added some light weathering, but kept the paint pretty much intact everywhere. The kit comes with 3 logs, molded in half, that you're supposed to glue together as the logging load. They look just as bad as they sound. So a new solution was needed. I went out back and found some limbs that were down from winter storms. I chopped those up with a hand saw and I ended up with some much nicer looking cargo using real wood. Other than that this is just box stock with some details picked out through painting. The Eagle continues, but I am taking extreme pains to not screw that up so it will be awhile yet. I also have the gloriously hideous Benetton B190 in the works as well. Staying busy this winter as my travelling work has dried up, which means more time at the bench. Thanks for looking Kyle

This looks incredible, those old Macks are cool vehicles and I love the creative solution for the logs. Great work!

The old Monogram midget is on my wish list as well. Land speed record car? No plans for that one yet but things do change. Ha. As you may have been able to tell, I’m interested in anything with an engine and some things without. Makes modeling the perfect hobby.

That's really neat! The Revell Offy or V-8 60 midget kit is far better than the Monogram kit, if you're looking for a detailed engine. Not sure if they're still around.

Great looking truck Kyle! That's one kit I REALLY should pick up.
Bobby is right, the Revell Kurtis midget kit is the way to go. Shouldn't be too hard to find. The old Mono midget is WAY out of scale, maybe 1/20-1/18? Does make a great base for an old-school dirt Champ car build, tho.

Yeah I guess I shouldn’t have specified which one. I have looked at all of them on the evilbay before. Although it is good to know the Revell one is better. I’ll look for that one whenever I decide to pick one up.

I've got 3-4 of them and built one with a trailer. The engine in it is the offy Marine engine. I did quite a lot of research when I built mine. I didn't like That engine, so I fabbed one. I had an 1/18 scale GMP midget to look at, along with a few books That I bought. The most informative book being "OFFY..America's greatest Racing Engine" by Kenneth E. Walton. A very good book. The Revell kits are Good. A person don't have to fab too much with them. Here's a pic of the Monogram build that I did.

Thanks, you two. That trailer is completely scratch built (except for the wheels and tires). I used the tongue of my 1/1 12' box trailer for reference on the model trailer.

It builds this:
really cool little kit!
You could upgrade to a 3D printed engine from texas3Dcustoms easily.
