I found this car, which ran in the 1954 Carrera Panamericana…. I believe the white will show the lines of the car better than BRG… The car was a privateer, owned by Javier Velasquez. He entered it in 1953, but dropped out quickly. So in 1954, he hired Francisco Ibarra and Fernando Pinal to drive. All were Mexican citizens. The car made it through 4 of the 8 stages, but dropped out with an oil leak. The car is different from the works cars and does not have the air scoop or heavy trunk seam. Here’s where I am… Decals are from LeMans decals, and I’ll post them when they arrive. Comments, questions welcome! Tim

This is going to be a cool project, Tim. Where did you get the kit from?

OK...Thank you for the heads up Tim. I'm with you on the color of the car too. The white looks way cool.

Different, I'm used to seeing them BRG, or better still, dark blue!

I usually enjoy the dark blue ones. And BRG is certainly classic That’s a pretty cool livery though. Going to look good

Hi Tim, That’s a great scheme. And the color photo really does show the flowing lines of the Jag.

I like the way you filled and rescribed the body to base seam on the right side. Looks much cleaner.

That's really neat! Do you know if the decals will include the stripes around the wheel wells?

Gentlemen: I put this aside for a while and now finished it…the wire wheels were the problem. Craig(Hot Shoe), sent me some outstanding 3D printed wheels (THANKS!)…due to my skill set, I could not get them to work…in fact I tried Craig’s and another 3D printed set (bought on line) and couldn’t get any to work…the reason? Properly done, the “wires” are very fragile…if you need to remount them for any reason (like avoiding the tricycle effect), they wil crack on the thin wires…I finally found a solid set, and darkened the recesses to look accurate…they look ok, but they were a “one off” because I and the seller didn’t know what car they came off of… This is my build of the SEFinecast Alfa P3…it also has a solid wire wheel from the kit… Therefore, if you want wire wheels, you can buy Pinto’s pricey hand done wires($55 for 4) or search the Net for an occasional “one off.” I am sure that those of you with better skills can make the 3D printed ones work, and I would love to see your process. I wonder if a solid 3D printed wheel would be an option??? More pictures coming of the finished Jaguar C… Tim

I think the wheels look great. The whole car looks great!
I'm obviously not one of those with "better skills" because I completely trashed a set of 3D printed wires, and now I am very hesitant to spend the money and maybe have it work, maybe not. I like your solution.
cheers

Looks gorgeous 😍
I'm not too sure what to think of the 3d printed wire wheels situation, besides 3d resin is very fragile when it's thin. Snaps like glass.
Not sure if I'd feel comfortable selling 3d printed wire wheels because of the fragile nature. It took some convincing to switch over to 3d printed suspension parts after doing stress tests and only doing parts that can withstand the pressure.

Ah, super nice work Tim. That looks great. The wheels look great too. I see no problem with a solid set of wires detailed out like you have here. Definitely looks the part on both builds. Very cool build.

The Carrera Panamericana featured very colorful sponsors and a wide variety of cars entered: 150 in 1954 in several categories. Jaguar had little success in the CP because they never entered a “works” car as they did at LeMans… These Mexican guys used a non-muffler exhaust…and yes, it hung down like this… Interior shot… Side view…the door hinges with decals was…tiring… Such timeless design… Rear view… Wire wheel shot… With the Ferrari 375+ (Maglioli) winner… These were in the “Sports Car above 1500cc” category… It only took a year or so, but thanks for stopping by…comments, questions, welcome!
