I was reading F1Live today and noticed something. Why is is it that F1 drivers say "for sure" several times in an interview? "For sure, we could have won" or "For sure, we have to be faster"... First you have Kimi with his mono-syllabic, run on sentence interviews, then the rest of them use "for sure" in every other sentence. Am I the only one who finds this odd?

I think it's a byproduct of English not being the driver's primary language. Since I can only speak English (well a little Spanish but not fluently), I'm generally impressed with the driver interviews. In fact, they speak better than a lot of people who claim English as their first language so I don't really see the usage of "for sure" as an issue. Look at younger Americans' over usage of the word "like". To me that is far more annoying. For sure.

Oh Duke...we could be here all day on this one!!
I am amazed at some of the poor speaking athletes and drivers being interviewed today. Being a former ex-ball player, the parent team used to send down a person to help educate and guide the minor leaguers, just like in the movie "Bull Durham" on how to speak before a camera. One or two days...it was easy, fun a required for us to do.
They must have stopped that a while ago.....and some of the announcers need it too! My GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean what word is "enteresting?" You have a interest and the word is interesting.....and "athleticism"....maybe athletic ability?
I blame ESPN for the poor way most athletes and Drivers speak today....I mean, Foyt used to tell other drivers to "Screw off!", but at least you knew what he was talking about.....
And the over use of ....."ERRRRRRR, AHMMMMMM, AHHHHHHH" they sound like morons......."like" you know what I mean? It's bad and getting worse.
My 0.02 worth.....Best to you

Posey - lol - he is my least favorite TV racing person... well now he's tied with Musburger since ABC forces Brent on us every May.
As far as Kimi, I rarely can understand him at all in his interviews - especially the post-race podium interviews.

Favorite is a personal thing. He is by far the best educated and eclectic in his interest.

Very true - someone likes him or he wouldn't be doing those prose endings to the F1 telecasts. To each their own ;D

I believe he went to Rhode Island School of Design so being a designer and teacher, I have always liked him, plus he has always been friendly in person.

If F1 has "for sure" then the NA$CAR equivalent must be "Well, you know I mean . . . "
