Pictures below if you should wish to skip the words. So, it has been a very busy summer so far and my bench time has suffered for it. However, I did manage to knock out a couple of builds. I was doing a couple simple Tamiya kits to take a break after the rigors of the 126 build. My wife has been wanting me to build this Beetle so I thought it was a good time to get into it. Pretty simple little kit that I did absolutely nothing extra to. Just wanted to build a simple model. Wife picked out the colors and as most of Tamiya's stuff it went together without a hitch. Very mindless and enjoyable. She liked how it turned out and I have no doubt at some point when we're at the hobby shop I'll find her pointing out something else that is "cute". I don't mind at all as it keeps her interested in my hobby and leads me down some paths I may not typically take.
Whilst working on the Beetle and digging into an ongoing B-25 project I was encouraged by a gentleman on scalemates to give motorcycles a try. Tamiya's beautiful little Monkey kit was at hand so I dove into it at the same time as the Beetle to give me sort of a double break. This worked out well for my sanity. This is a gorgeous little kit and has led me to think that maybe I should build another motorcycle or two. I painted this from a couple of cans out of my "leftover color shelf". A shelf full of partial cans of hobby paint. Managed to finish off some Testor's dark cherry metallic and used a bit more of Tamiya's Pearl blue. This was an extremely fun build and they include far too much hose so I got some extra to throw in my stash. Moving back into the world of open wheel race cars now. Thanks for looking.
