I have an acetate windscreen and I need to add an additional "bubble" piece to it that raises the height in front of the driver. I have coated the pieces in Future but I am struggling how to attach them together. I can get the small piece held in place with small strips of masking tape but have found nothing to bond them together. Canopy glue (I've tried several brands) in the smallest amounts still leaves a visible bead and if I try using a small amount of Future it leaks under the tape. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Maybe tacking the small piece in place with a tiny amount of white glue, then running future into the seam? You might also want to consider using the existing pieces to build a master that you can vacu form a new single piece windscreen from.

robh- I've tried going with the white glue to hold the small piece in place but when the Future hits it the wetness of the Future dissolves the white glue. I've even tried using bluetac as a dam on the outside where the two parts meet and adding Future from the inside but the future seeps under and affects the bluetac. I'm wondering if I should let the Future sit out and get thick and then use it on the place where the pieces meet and let the Future create a sort of ledge for the small part to rest on. Or should I get some clear acrylic like Tamiya X-22 and see if that could provide an adequate transparent bead? I've been trying for almost two weeks and I am getting frustrated...and I have no vacuforming equipment or skill. Thanks for the input.

Just use Future to bond them.

I have tried using Future to bond them but there is no way to securely hold the two pieces together while the Future dries and bonds. Masking tape allows the Future to seep under the tape and the points of contact of the two pieces is too small to use any sort of clamp. I may get some G&S Hypo jewelers cement and see how that works, but I am still open to suggestions.

What about using some clear plastic laminating sheet? Leave a bit of the adhesive side open to attach to the windshield and put another layer on the exposed part.
