Why would Ferrari try to get Giancarlo Fisichella from Force India to replace Luca Badoer when they have Marc Gene already on staff? Hell they could even sign Nelson Piquet or Sébastien Bourdais. Both who have a good bit of expirience in the current cars.

Well.. Fisi did put a car that had never earned a point on the pole at Spa ;-)

I realize Fisi is a good driver, but why go to all the trouble for, what in reality is, a temp ride?

He is Italian, and the next race is at Monza. It will help ticket sales, and Ferrari is looking for 2 drivers for next year according to gossip. If and when Alonzo comes on board, he wants to be number 1 driver ( no more of that Mclaren crap) Fisi will be very glad to be the second Ferrari driver at this stage of his career.

For what it's worth, Vijay Mallya has denied reports that Fisi will drive for the Scuderia in Monza.
