I need to knock some product builds out of the way. I haven't done any WIP's in a while and I need to make a blog post for a future release. It's another installment of my IMSA Porsche 962 conversion kits, I've sold so many of these kit, I really can't go wrong with making more as the 1/24 Hasegawa 962c kits are so abundant. This thread is going to be my notes and rough draft for the blog. If you have questions about the build-up of this kit, ask here and it will help me make the instructions better. ANY of the Hasegawa Kits will work with my resin conversion kits

Its a very easy build, but figuring out what can of Mustang poppy red I should suggest to the customer is the tough part.

Man...I hear you on that Calvin. I have at least three different colors of Poppy Red. I think I would go with the 65 ford Mustang Poppy red....which seems a little too red for my taste. Where I grew up (Northern Calif. in the 50-60's) poppy's were orange. But I think his car was 65 stang poppy red. I think the Scale Auto Finishes Poppy red hits the mark. You might also suggest MCW. Hope this is helpful Calvin

I was wondering how this paint was on ebay? www.ebay.com/itm/254588141725?hash=item3b46a2c09d:g:y8UAAOSwHwhbT3HX

Hi Calvin, Glad to see you’re back. When I did AJs 67 car I bought a product fromRainbow industries labeled 64/65 Poppy Red AP25. When I did his 77 car I used Testers gloss competition orange 1628. I can not tell the difference. Dan

I'd say the Foyt cars were red with an orange hue. I'm adamant, however, that when he had valvoline sponsorship in 81-83 it was 'red' not poppy red (consistent with Valvoline as main sponsor). I saw all those cars up close and never saw a hint of orange in them.

I went to the local Auto Parts store and they mixed up a pint of Ford Poppy Red Mustang ( paint code 3 from an article I read about this color) paint for me ready to spray for $11.78 When Applied it was dead on. Matched the DMC decal sheet I got from Germany . I still have a few finishing touches but a very convincing build. I did use the Classic Resins Porsche 962 Conversion for the body but had to scratchbuild the correct Turbo Scoop . All the products were easy and enjoyable to use. I built the Big Scoop Version. I somehow lst the pics so I will re-shoot them and post in a day or so Chris

I've used Testors competition orange before, it looks good but needs to be put into a dehydrator machine to dry the paint.

Im doing the Daytona version as it has more pictures available.
