It would be an interesting project. Would have to see some detail photo's of the diecast to see what the suspention, both front & rear look like. Also does this thing have any gearbox and rear end detail or is it a lump of plastic. And the tires could be just open backs not solid so more work ahead. But I think it would be a good starting point for someone with lots of time and with some resin casting or metal casting skills. To who ever wants to tackle this, good luck.

I don't think its worth it. The body looks ok but there is no engine, cockpit, (decent) wheels, suspension. You'd have to come up with a suspension that would hold the weight of the car and the wheels. At this scale it would need to be pretty sturdy. There just isn't a good source for all the little bits. Maybe if it was a 1;20, 1:25 or 1:24 you could borrow some the pieces from Tamiya, Revell,...
You would be spending way too much time making everything from scratch.

I saw one at a Target store. It looked ok, but very big. You would need a big room to display a group of them. Detail parts and decals would be a real problem.

Jordan,
I actually have started this project. Some of the biggest problems are the wings. They are very soft plastic and they sag especially the rear. I am going to build my rear wing from flat stock plastic and will be recasting the the front wings in resin. May just cast the whole nose assembly instead...haven't decided yet. I will be using a 1/12 scale mini-champs helmet for the driver figure. Mine will be a curbside model and will have no engine detail. It will require alot of scratch building and should be a fun project. Will post some pictures soon.
