Tameo 1/43 scale 1988 Penskes in various states of assembly. The brass photo etch wheel covers in the kit were 6 hole and I soldered backing plates made of brass and filled with solder three holes then covered with BM foil to replicate the correct disc as ran on the first laps. Tedious work but well worth it for the accuracy.

Great eye for detail. I did not remember Al Sr's rear wing supports being yellow but you are right. I cannot wait to see these progress. Are you modifying anything else other than the wheel covers?

One of the Mears cars will have different wheels without the 'aero discs' as they removed them after the first stop.

I'm using Indycals and a couple of notes...I masked off the Miller car using the Tameo kit decals as a template. The Indycals are not the same, so I'm using 2 sheets and having to splice the green border in. I liked the old Goodyear style better without the black circle. I'ts very difficult to get that circle position properly and get it to actually 'stick' even with my strongest decal setting solution. My technique for the older version was to lay down the decal then go over it with some Tamiya quick set liquid glue. It melted the decal into the rubber and left no noticeable trace of decal sheet.

Yes, I will be there. What does your itinerary look like? Are you going to the memorabilia show?

They look great. I see Mears ended up with aero wheels, any insights? Don't forget the pushrods!

They look great. I see Mears ended up with aero wheels, any insights? Don't forget the pushrods! Jordan Pushrods are all clipped out and ready. I have 2 Mears cars going, one with aero discs and one without. The non aero disc wheels need a little more modification to work. I'm using the Ampersand wheels and they don;t have the same offset as the Tameo. I have to chuck them up in the lathe and make them a bit deeper.

Nice work! That was an amazing front row. 1988 is a race I’ve watched over and over.
