As ever, feel free to skip below to my mediocre pictures. So, I typically have 2 or 3 builds going at once in case I need to let things dry, or if I need to take a step away from a project for a minute, or whatever the case may be. Have had this one going at the same time as my last couple posts. Wouldn't have gotten it finished up because I was supposed to leave on a work trip last Sunday. Well, that got pushed to this Sunday, which gave me time to put the finishing touches on this project. The '89 500 has long been one of my favorites. Great cars, terrific drivers through the field, great paint schemes. I would happily build the entire field. This is my second backmarker from that 500 as Gordy fell out early when his Buick inevitably broke. Built this with a Monogram kit because I liked that they included the Buick. Not a great build, but an enjoyable one and one that I learned some things on. This was my first time attempting the front suspension surgery, for instance. I'm happy with it and it'll look ok on the shelf next to my Pancho Carter Ghostbusters 2 build. Threw in an extra photo of my latest builds displacing the china in the wife's hutch. Thanks again to Michael for another set of excellent decals. Leaving at 6 AM tomorrow morning for that work trip (it's really happening this time) but I'll be dropping in while I'm gone to admire everyone else's work. I'll pick back up in 3 weeks or so.

Nice one, don’t see many Buicks done. Thank you. The Buick is really what made me want to put this kit together. Just different.

I wonder how many years it would take to build every Indy/Champ car kit that is out there? Nice work on yours.

Very good looking car. Only seen it a couple of times on here.
The Buicks could have been real disruptors had in not been for reliability issues.

I think the rules package killed the Buick, because in IMSA the engine was Mighty! It went into many Lola T600's and other assorted cars. It won, and placed quite well. Now consider those races were 6, 12 and 24 hours long and the Buick cars performed without many problems. Like a lot of sanctioning bodies they regulated the boost or whatever to the point that it was un-competitive or broke... Chris
