Tamiya Lola T93 of Scott Goodyear

As ever, skip the ramblings and get to the pictures. Calling this one done.  Just have a couple decals to add but I'm leaving for Florida for work so I thought I'd better post it. Last completed build for me for a couple months. Too bad I can't take my workstation to Florida with me. LOL. I have a couple of these kits in my stash. I try to snag them whenever I see them for less than an arm and a leg. To me the T93 is one of the most iconic cars.  Along with the Porsche March I believe it was the first car to really have that low, modern look. Always been a big fan. I've also always liked the look of the Mackenzie cars. The blue and silver go well together. Saw the decals on Indycals and that decided my build for this kit. This is the first time I've built this kit and I learned some things for the next one but it sure builds up into a pretty little car. This is also really the first time I've had to paint such an intricate two tone paint job. I'm happy with my result. Big thanks to Michael for the excellent masking seals. Lifesavers. And the decals are top notch, as ever.  Thanks for looking!!

Looks really good. Goodyear was an underrated driver, so close to an Indy win three times but never got the milk. The Mackenzie cars had a classic look, someone should really run these colors again!

This is a good kit as it allows the builder to make a good IndyCar model without going crazy. Too bad not to have another Indy Tamiya in the 30 years since.

I have really enjoyed your output lately. Sorry you cannot take your hobby with you for work. Maybe you can find something in FL. Keep checking in though!

Jordan thank you! I agree about these Tamiya kits. Shame they haven’t done any more Indycals since. You’d think they could at least sell Sato over there or something. Wish I had known about these kits in my early modeling days that’s for sure. I will be checking in here while I’m down here admiring all the great work on the forum, still dropping in comments even if I won’t be able to work on any of my own projects.

Jordan, I agree, Goodyear won it and got DQ'd, lost it by a foot, and lost it again because he was worried about being DQ'd - again!

Any luck at all he'd be a three time winner. 

Ironic that he started out being a road racer and ended up excelling more on the ovals.

And to answer the sponsorship question, MacKenzie financial was bought out by a conglomerate that has no interest in racing.

Thanks a lot Paul! Also always been one of my favorite Indycar schemes. The blue came out a bit darker in my photos than it really is. Couldn’t get it happy in the light. And man they were fast in 93 too, just couldn’t put together many complete races. I always liked Goodyear. He was one to watch every year at the 500, which I was fortunate enough to attend every year as a kid. Bummer about Mackenzie.

Soooo...My Florida trip was postponed for 1 week due to some contract and legal issues that are far, far above my paygrade. Thought I'd throw a couple pictures up with the missing decals from the other photos since I have had some more time at home. Also thinking I may have time to squeak out one more project.  A MONOGRAM Lola Buick. Just doing a quick and dirty build. Ebay kit I got in a lot a long time ago so why not throw it together. It was missing a couple minor pieces but nothing to hinder it from looking acceptable at the back of my shelf. Monogram kit has been a trip, but I'll probably build another one (maybe that March Porsche I have buried in the closet) Building it box stock, really just enjoyed the Buick model sitting under the engine cover. I'll start a new post with that build if I get it polished off before Sunday. Last picture is why its hard to get anything done around here. Can't get good help!!   Incidentally it's also why every single build of mine comes with standard issue hairs stuck somewhere. LOL.

Is that the Mac Tools car? I built one of them years ago. If I have to build indycars I much prefer the Monogram kits, just personal taste.

As to your furball, I use a Golden Retriever myself.

Indeed this was the Mac Tools car. However the decals were the worst of any kit I’ve ever opened. So I sourced some Indycal decals and it’ll be the Hemelgarn Pizza Hut WRTV6 91 or Gordon Johncock from 89. I haven’t minded the kit at all. Not as worried about how this one turns out. Just a quick build and it’ll give me an idea on how to make the next one better. Golden retriever is an excellent fur ball. We love dogs here too!!
