This is my newest Indy car body for HO or 1/64 scale slot car racing. It is a resin casted body to fit over a 1.7" Jag PR-5 chassis. I always liked the Kenny Brack SHELL car, so this is how it turned out. Decals are from Indycals. I had to compromise the profile of the front wing to get clearance for most tracks. I may cast a lower "more correct" version in the future for myself. Completely rebuilt the standard rear wing to better represent the Reynard wing. It's a little large in scale, but this is the first attempt. .

Nice job! Awesome looks my friend. Scale looks spot on even with the wing mod. What resin are you using? I'm almost ready to start casting my own 80's era bodies. I'm making them to fit over the hot wheels turbo streak chassis for static display..any tips?

Always liked the Tyco/Aurora scale cars but what stopped me really going all in was the lack of accurate single seater bodies or more to the point getting them around the chassis/engine combo.
This however. Really top job. Guess it will always be just bit bigger than the norm to get the proportions right but most impressive. You sure it is your first attempt?
Nice one.

I love it! I have a "Thing" for Shell logos and car schemes. This is my all-time favorite Shell car. Jordan and I get chills when we see Shell logos for some reason LOL I also love the Shell logo painted on the grass. Back in the olden days I use to spray paint a shell logo in the grass on my 4-wheeler race track road course in turn 1 out in the field.

No, not my first attempt. I've been casting since the early '90's. I used to hack and cut HO slot car chassis to modify them for a lower stance. The biggest problem with that is if I came off the track, they would look like a real Indy car crash when the chassis would explode into the many pieces upon impact. Thankfully, different manufacturers came out with slightly longer and leaner chassis to fit their different bodies on. This played right into my hands for making Indy car and F1 bodies. Here is a photo of a newer low-slung chassis that just came out last year. This Jag PR-5 chassis is what is under the Shell car above. .

Oh, just to put into perspective, these are the scale size of a small Hot Wheel car.

Here are a few photos of the casted Reynard as it came out of the mold, initial sanding and prepping the body, then test fitting the body to the chassis. .

Great looking car and a Shell Reynard is a good looking scheme! Really nice job doing so much work on these cars to make them look more accurate, given the considerable constraints.

Thanks Jordan! At this scale, it is more "illusion" than actual true scale. Getting these positive responses, is a gratifying validation from you all as experts. Thanks guys!

I looks really good. Hot Wheels did a good 1/64 of the Reynard in the late 90s. I am not sure if one of those would be a help or not since you have to fit the R/C components.

Aw. Come on.
I am getting stuck into my 1/32nd scale stuff and now wondering whether to get my old AFX track out of the loft.....
That looks brilliant.
Jag PR5 chassis eh? Will look it up.
Presume there are bodies galore out there to cater for all tastes?
Are your casts available? Gotta ask.

Here is the completed Target car with driver figure. One of these days I'll figure out how to paint perfect rings on the little helmets! .

Usually keep the kits at $14 plus shipping. Gary

I have seen those older 1/64 Indy cars. Both Hot Wheels and Racing Legends. They were low and lean, which would never be able to cover a slot car chassis. Same thing with the modern GreenLight renditions. Most of the open wheel bodies I make today are morphed versions from previous bodies I have made over the years. In the mid-eighties, I was vacuforming bodies to fit over the available slot car chassis' during that era. I made the bucks from automotive Bondo. When I got into resin casting, I made a few bucks and hollowed them out to get the first crude casts. Almost every resin body I make today is an evolution from past bodies. With this new Jag HO scale chassis that recently came out, it allows me to get these fairly low. I'm pretty proud of the fact, that I can claim that I didn't copy a diecast or any other manufactured car or toy to make my Indy cars. Luckily, I have taken many photos over the years to show the evolution of my bodies. Heck, I made a 2018 Dallara using the designer photos of the red car that were posted on Indycar.com well before the real car even raced on a track in competition. Just strictly from studying the photos. It's a labor of love, for sure. Gary
