I bought the Gurney Olsonite Eagle and also managed to score a Rislone Eagle with two actual kits in one box. So in total I have 3 Eagle kits. 1968 was my first race, so I figured I’d build the 1st, 2nd and 4th places cars from that race. The Denny Hulme car ran the “Indy DOHC Ford engine”, so I found a Mad Mike 3D resin engine from Model Car Warehouse, $52 later I got it in the mail and oooh’d and ah’d over the quality. It’s superbly done, the detail is AWESOME, just one problem. Because I’m building 3 kits at once I had the Gurney Westlake V-8 sitting next to the DOHC Ford, there is a significant size difference in both the engine and the transmission looks to be more toward the model used for the Ford GT-40. It is significantly longer than the kit transmission. So I tried a test fit inside the chassis, TOO BIG. I was gonna use this same engine again for my S.E. Finecast Lotus 38 coming in March, this throws a big fat spanner in the works for that plan. Anyone else notice this?
I’d show pics if it wasn’t a serious PITA to do so.

Seems much more likely the old MPC engines were undersized. Scale fidelity was a little more "fluid" back then, IMO.

ProBoards only has a finite amount of free space allocated per forum. Adding space to host pictures on the board costs $3-73.50 per month. If there is a demand for it and people are willing to pay for it, it can be done.

I believe that the engine is 1/24 and the cars are 1/25…

Yup. The Mad Mike engines are 1/24 scale. They’re designed for the 1/24 scale Fujimi Ford GT’s.

Artistic license anyone?

The Southeast Fine Cast Lotus 38 IS 1/24 scale, so maybe you can get the engine to fit in taht kit with some work. Good Luck

Good Luck Oldphotos Walt That’s my hope, I have one on the way in March and I have 5 INDY DOHC builds to do. #42 1968 Denny Hulme Eagle #82 1965 Jim Clark - saving the SE Finecast kit for that and holding out hope the MadMike engine fits. #19 1966 Jim Clark STP car #24 1966 Graham Hill winner Lola T-90 scratch build #43 1966 Jackie Stewart Lola T-90 scratch build I got my work cut out for myself
