When did the little star get added? Sullivan Drove in 85. Bobby Allison Drove the same kinda scheme in Nascar also in 85. So if this is the 84 Miller (pic below) ..did the scheme change to "American" mid season?

That has to be an early 1985 photo (bottom pic). That's definitely an 85C tub and engine cover - the side pod is a bit of a question mark as that's not the standard 85C left side pod.

It is Al in the top pic and Danny in the bottom one, too. Supporting a 84/85 split.

From what I recall when doing a 1/43rd early season 85C a while back the standard 85C side pods had an angle at the front of about 20 degrees from the cockpit side to the outer flank. Penske ran these pods at Indy and other speedways. But when they ran on road courses they had a squared off pod with the radiators mounted further forward. Or at least the air outlet channels were further forward. Those road course pods were very much like the front of the 84c pods. I think most other 85c users had the standard 85 spec angled front to the pods wherever they ran.

No doubt a test session at Laguna Seca early 1985. Looks like half of a 84 March side pod. They ran that Miller American scheme the first race in Long Beach then changed it to what we see ran at the Indy 500.
