Any thoughts about the government banning or limiting racing due to fuel/environment concerns? Seems they want to control everything else.

The feds may indeed force GM and Chrysler out of racing and it looks like the IRL will selfdestruct. Not much left. USAC may end up as the big winner. My $.02 Craig

I can see the Feds getting involved with NASCAR, but the indycars don't use gasoline, so not much they can do there. I wonder what kind of impurities are in indycar exhaust? I hope that the IRL survives somehow, I hate to think of F1 as the only openwheel type racing.

I don't see it happening since NASCAR already talked it's way out of the 70s gas crunch. IndyCar and SportsCars are exploring alternative fuels so they have extra social value.

My concern is that having major events like the 500, Daytona, Summer nationals will be villa filed because of all the people that drive to get there.
The Soviet Union wasn't known for it's racing!
