This build was started about 3 yrs ago when Gary Doucette was still with us. Gary and I talked on the phone at least once a week sharing racing ideas and Indy car history. I'd asked him if he saw any of the Ford Capri's that ran in the 80's in Europe. He said that they weren't open wheel...we both laughed at that.
That gave me the idea of building the Capri but making it a Fictitious Team car that ran at the 24 hrs Le Mans. The team being Gary Doucette(from the North east) Gary Sleeper(from the South West) and Gary Davis(from the North West). I happened on a artist site that the guy's on there were doing computer drawings of the Capri with different sponsors. APPLE being one of them. It really looked cool, so I thought of doing that one. I called Gary Sleeper at Circle Track decals and he was on board for the decals. The #69 is an average of all three of our ages at the time.
I want to dedicate this build to Gary Doucette.
This is a curbside motorized kit from Tamiya. I Built the roll cage. Put a back shelf on for a fire break. I did cut the drivers and passengers windows out so the interior can be seen. Painted the BBS wheels gold and the decals are from Circle Track decals and various kit decals. Paint is Scale Finishes off white enamel outside and Petty blue interior. It's cleared with 2K clear Here are a few pics of the finished car. Thanks for looking in folks...
